System Overview

Rampage is a modular system with applications and options that can be combined into a single Windows-based PC or broken out to individual PCs working in parallel. For smaller operations, your dealer might suggest a RIP/Server configuration to eliminate the cost of a separate file server.

Scaleable
There is no such thing as Rampage "light." There is only a handful of options to consider and most of those are available for trial to ensure your success beforehand. You scale the system, if necessary, by breaking the core applications to dedicated PCs. A partial list of core applications inclu
des:

  • Workflow module (Preflight, PDF Trap Engine, RIP, etc.)
  • FFP Proofing module for creating RIP-once softproofs, generic file formats for 3rd-party proofing systems, and inkzone calculations
  • Screening module, including Pick-a-Plate function for imaging single plates or changing screening parameters at last stage

Client/Server
All operator-related tasks are handled offline in the free Rampage Client application. This allows the Rampage platform to auto trap, screen, and perform all other processing without disruption. In the "middle" is your file server, which stores images, fonts, Rampage Digital Masters (RDMs), and so on. No processing actually takes place on the file server; it merely serves as an interim storage facility during the production process.

Open
Rampage provides a unified workflow across all of your output devices, including platesetters, proofing devices, and digital presses from diverse manufacturers. Rampage either interfaces directly with your halftone systems or feeds screened 1-bit files to a 3rd-party "TIFF catcher." Likewise, Rampage can send generic raster formats to proofing systems with 3rd-party RIPs or drive them directly. Either way, from the operator's perspective, there is a single front end across all of your output systems.
