Version 12.2 now in development With Version 12.1 running successfully in hundreds of print shops, Rampage Engineers have begun working on Version 12.2, which will include:
JDF Hot Folders streamline production by allowing you to link stripping instructions from a 3rd-party imposition package to Hot Folders. To spawn a job in Rampage, you simply drag the PDF into the appropriate folder. You append the file name with the Job Number or reference, and it will carry through into the Rampage Pagelist. Auto Spot Color Mapping automatically resolves varying prefixes and suffixes used to name colors in layout applications. For example, the system could map PMS-185C and Pantone 185 CVC to the declared ink name Pantone 185. This drastically reduces manual intervention in the Edit Colors dialog in Prescan. Using similar logic, Version 12.1 can eliminate time spent in the Pick-A-Plate dialog to manually suppress a dieline, for example, from imaging on plate. In-line Softproofing is an "under the hood" change that speeds overall processsing by concurrently RIPing and Softproofing files. In the past, Rampage could not create softproofs until RIPing was complete, a serial process. Know too that this happens in sync with the speed improvements achieved through Threaded Processing (see below). Spend less time fixing files Catching and correcting problems in supplied PDFs are margin-robbing tasks, ones that cannot be ignored or issues can move downstream, where they are even more costly. PDF Fixer and PDF Color Manager detect and correct missing fonts, RGB elements, thin lines, and other common issues based on your rules and preferences. Spend less time watching progress bars It is not uncommon for customers to report 10X speed improvements after upgrading. What changed? We re-engineered Rampage for the Windows 7 Operating System. Running on a 12-core workstation, multiple processors can now RIP a single file (Threaded Processing) while the remaining processors perform others tasks, such as Preflighting, at the same time (Parallel Processing). The cumulative effect is extraordinary. Use NORM for pre-media For pre-media applications, the Rampage NORM workflow has played second fiddle to ROOM. The convergence of PDF Trap Engine, PDF Fixer, and PDF Color Manager in Version 12 has leveled the playing field. |
