Automate Without Losing Control

Supporting native PDF and JDF, a base Rampage configuration is comprised of five core applications:

  • Preflight/Fix
  • Trap
  • RIP
  • Softproof
  • Screening

These reside on a pre-configured Rampage Dual Six FireCore workstation.  Depending on volume requirements, the workstation may function as a file server as well.  You can scale the system with additional RIP licenses and by breaking various core applications out to dedicated workstations.

To optimize system performance, all operator-related tasks, such as managing the job queue, editing traps, and reviewing softproofs, occur offline from the main workstation in the Rampage Client, which has no per-seat fees or dongles.

As an open system, Rampage has direct and indirect connectivity to equipment from Kodak, Agfa, Fuji, Screen, Heidelberg, HP, Xerox, Epson, and other leading manufacturers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Rampage a PDF workflow?

To best support transparent effects from layout applications, the preferred input format is unflattened PDF.  But, Rampage also supports flattened PDF (e.g., PDFx-1A), EPS, 1-bit TIFF, and other formats.

Is Rampage a raster (ROOM) or vector (NORM) workflow?

Rampage offers both.  For internal printing, most businesses use the raster workflow.  You use the Rampage NORM workflow to provide other operations with print-ready vector PDF.

Is Rampage an Adobe-based workflow?

No.  Adobe-based workflows have flawed proofing methodologies, forcing you to choose between a RIP-twice scenario, which can cause text reflow and other anomalies, or a screen-and-descreen scenario, which can cause quality issues, particularly with blends.

System Requirements
In the USA, Rampage ships on a pre-configured PC*** with the Windows 7 operating system.  You will also need:
  • Apple computer with OS 10.5 or above with AFP to run the Rampage Client

  • Network with swiched hub (gigabit recommended)

  • Xeon File Server with minimum of 1 TB storage, 4 or more GB RAM, Dual-core CPU speeds of 2.66 Ghz or faster, and one of the following operating systems:
  • Windows 2008 Server with GroupLogic ExtremeZ-IP
  • Windows 2003 Server with GroupLogic ExtremeZ-IP
  • ***Rampage is also available on a Windows 7,
    12-core RIP/Server configuration with a 5-seat license of ExtremeZ-IP, 8GB RAM, and 1.2 TB storage (USA only).
  • Windows 2000 Server (does not support Mac workstations running under OS 10.7)
