Supporting native PDF and
JDF, a base Rampage configuration is comprised of five core applications:
Preflight/Fix
Trap
RIP
Softproof
Screening
These reside on a
pre-configured Rampage Dual Six FireCore workstation.Depending on volume requirements, the
workstation may function as a file server as well. You can scale the system with additional RIP licenses and by
breaking various core applications out to dedicated workstations.
To optimize system
performance, all operator-related tasks, such as managing the job queue,
editing traps, and reviewing softproofs, occur offline from the main
workstation in the Rampage Client, which has no per-seat fees or dongles.
As an open system, Rampage
has direct and indirect connectivity to equipment from Kodak, Agfa, Fuji,
Screen, Heidelberg, HP, Xerox, Epson, and other leading manufacturers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Rampage a PDF workflow?
To best support transparent
effects from layout applications, the preferred input format is unflattened
PDF.But, Rampage also supports
flattened PDF (e.g., PDFx-1A), EPS, 1-bit TIFF, and other formats.
Is Rampage a raster (ROOM)
or vector (NORM) workflow?
Rampage offers both. For internal printing, most businesses
use the raster workflow.You use
the Rampage NORM workflow to provide other operations with print-ready vector
PDF.
Is Rampage an Adobe-based
workflow?
No.Adobe-based workflows have flawed
proofing methodologies, forcing you to choose between a RIP-twice scenario,
which can cause text reflow and other anomalies, or a screen-and-descreen
scenario, which can cause quality issues, particularly with blends.
